What was the highlight of Fufu Hakone
Great stay at a smaller high quality hotel
The rooms were a delight! As was the staff who were very welcoming and attentive to our needs. The food was also quite exceptional although too much at times - you will not be hungry. The public onsen was worth a dip. They provided a loft to Gora station.
Some people may want a traditional shower; there is one but it is part of the private bath cleaning station. We leaned into it.

Great food, private onsen was wonderful
Check in and check out process was a little drawn out. If you’re in a hurry to get anywhere, make sure you have adequate time.

Exceeded every expectation! Room rate was high but it worths!
Excellent bed, excellent view, excellent food, excellent hot spring, excellent service, excellent everything!
Hotel has tried hard to serve international guests who speak English but not Japanese. Check-in was even done with westerner staff, and I was surprised. Keiseki dinner menu was partially translated into English. However, the English standard and accent by Japanese staff is still Japanese level. Be prepared for that.
